Ruth Leffler Anthony, longtime Muncie resident, more recently of Southport, Conn., died Sunday in Carolton Nursing Home in Fairfield, Conn. A Muncie native, she was a graduate of Muncie (now Central) High School. She taught kindergarten in Muncie for a few years and following her marriage, received a nursing degree in Indianapolis. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Alpha Chapter of Psi Iota Xi sorority, and Paul Revere Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, all of Muncie, and of Sigma Theta Tau international nursing honorary. She was a former member of the Delaware-Blackford Medical Society Auxiliary.

Mrs. Anthony was the widow of Harvey Mitchell Anthony, science educator and physician who died in the 1930s and for whom Anthony Elementary School in Muncie was named. She and Dr. Anthony both traced their roots to Delaware County's pioneer days, their ancestors having settled here more than 150 years ago. She was the daughter of Joseph G. and Laura Emerson Leffler. Her father was Delaware Circuit Court judge 1898-1910, and her brother, Paul E. Leffler, served on the same bench 1953-58.

Mrs. Anthony resided on West Charles Street for many years before moving to Connecticut several years ago. Surviving Mrs. Anthony are a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Ann) Brophy, Southport, Conn.; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Paul (Carrie) Leffler, Muncie; three grandchildren; two nieces, Mrs. William (Becky) Pfeiffer and Nancy Schuster, both of Muncie; and a cousin, Paul Emerson, Muncie.

Services for Ruth Leffler Anthony, former Muncie resident, who died Sunday in Connecticut, will be in Meeks Mortuary at 10 a.m. Saturday, with Rev. Dan Mattox, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the family mausoleum in Beech Grove Cemetery next week.
