Obituary, National Democrat, Jeffersonville, September 9, 1887 reads: "New Providence, Died of paralysis, Sept 1, 1887, Mrs. Jincy McKinley, aged eighty-five years. Her father, Samuel Packwood, one of Wood Township's pioneers, removed hither from Virginia in 1811. Jincy, then being about nine years old. At the age of fifteen she was married to James McKinley from Kentucky, by whom she had twelve children, nine of whom are living. She has left many to mourn her loss, though she stayed to a good old age."
