Virginia Carol Lombard Thompson, 73, died April 6, 1999. She was born February 20, 1926 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mrs. Thompson worked as a secretary for the Putnam City School District for 24 years and was an active member of Putnam City Baptist Church for 47 years. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota Alpha Delta Conclave, DAR, and the Hefner Connection.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl M. Nelson and Frances I. Cleaver Nelson, and her first husband Leslie Lombard. She is survived by her husband Melville Thompson; sons: Gary Lombard and wife Judy, Oklahoma City, Kent Lombard and wife Becky, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Kirk Lombard and wife, Betty, Hattiesburg Mississippi; stepson Herbert Thompson and wife Kathy, Washington, D.C.; sisters, Marjorie Thompson, Bethany, and Norma Nicks, Mesquite, Texas; six grandchildren: Angii Durham, Amy Williams, and Ryan, Malinda, Aaron and Parker Lombard; three great-grandchildren: Grant and Macy Durham, and Devon Lombard. Memorials may be made to the building fund at Putnam City Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 9, with interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
