Final Rites For Mrs. Burkey

Mrs. Sarah Burkey mother of Mrs. A. J. Trumble of Fairmont, died at 7:15 Tuesday, February 4, 1958 at the Atlantic, Ia., Memorial hospital following a short illness. Mrs. Burkey was born near Marne, Ia., August 8, 1876, the daughter of Lewis and Harriet Allen and grew to womanhood there. She married to William Henry Burkey and they lived on a farm south of Walnut until they moved to Atlantic in 1935. Mrs. Burkey was a member of the First Methodist church and had been active in the WSCS.

Surviving are two sons, Howard David Burkey of Atlantic, Ia., and Fern Lewis Burkey of Torrance Cal., two daughters, Rachel Arlene Trumble of Fairmont, Nebraska and Harriet Kathryn Buchelheide of Crete, Neb.; three brothers, Will Allen of Twin Falls, Idaho, Ira Allen of Wilber, Wash. and Avery Allen of Walnut, Ia.; two sisters: Mrs. Lorena Breece of Atlantic, Ia. and Mrs. Effie Cromer of Long Beach, Cal.; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the First Methodist church at Atlantic, the Rev. Donald C. Bissinger officiating. The remains will be at the Roland funeral Home until Friday morning and interment will be in the Walnut cemetery.
