JACOB BUB SUCCUMBS TO INJURY
After lying in an unconscious condition for almost a week as a result of an injury suffered in a fall on a slippery sidewalk over a month ago, Jacob Bub, well known resident of Plymouth, died at 9:30 o'clock Thursday morning at his home in that city. Mr. Bub was walking down Stafford Street about 11 o'clock on the night of December 15. He reached a point near the Central Hotel when he slipped on the ice and fell, striking on the back of his head.
He thought little of the accident at the time and apparently was not badly hurt. About a week ago his condition became critical and he was forced to take to his bed. A day or two later he lapsed into unconsciousness and remained in that condition despite the efforts of physicians. A specialist from Milwaukee was engaged shortly after Mr. Bub became unconscious, but he declared at that time that there was little hope for the injured man. The Milwaukee physician declared that Mr. Bub had been suffering from intral-cranial pressure at a previous time to the fall in December and that the recent injury had aggravated the trouble. Mr. Bub suffered a fall several years ago and it is believed the injury he suffered at that time caused the pressure spoken of by the physician.
Decedent was born October 14, 1850, being 65 years, 3 months and 12 days old at the time of his death. He was born and reared on a farm in the town of Rhine and for some time operated a threshing outfit in the county. Later he purchased the Half-Way House between Plymouth and Sheboygan Falls, being situated there for several years.
Twenty years ago he went to Plymouth and retired, living there since that time. He was married twice, his first wife having died two years after the wedding. His second wife was Mrs. Augusta Berth, who he married on February 26, 1886. To the couple five children were born, two of whom, Ida and William, are living. They reside in Plymouth. Mrs. Bub also survives.
Mr. Bub was formerly a member of the Volunteer Fire Department of Plymouth and a member of the Plymouth Aid Society. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at the residence, Rev. F. W. Biesner, pastor of the Reformed church, officiating. Burial will be made in Woodlawn cemetery.
