Joe Barnett Kendrick is the son of Fred Moss Kendrick (1870-1951) and Rilla Dell Strain (1874-1965). He married (1st) Bessie Ruth Campbell (1908-2003) on 8 December 1934 in Ringgold, Catoosa County, Georgia. He married (2nd) Irene.

KENDRICK -- JOE BARNETT '"BARNEY," 78, of 6 Beaver Lane, died Tuesday at his home. A native of Calhoun, Ga., he lived most of his life in the North Georgia area and attended East Lake United methodist Church. He was a former deputy sheriff in Hamilton and Walker counties, was self-employed as a plumber and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Irene Kendrick; two daughters, Terry Lee Melton, Nashville, and Carol Kuch, Michigan; two sons, Raymond Kendrick, Hixson, and Joe Kendrick, Hollywood, Fla; stepson, Earl Strickland, Ringgold, Ga.; three sisters, Eva Tomlin, Maude Dover and Winnie Curtner; six brothers, Virgil, Worth, Raymond, Elmo, Ralph and Robert Kendrick, all of Chattanooga. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dane Morehead and the Rev. Ed Snodgrass officiating. Burial will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends after 1 p.m. today at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.
