Leonard Kendrick
Leonard Elmo Kendrick, 97, of Chattanooga, died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 23, 2003, in a local hospital.
He was born in Sugar Valley, Ga., on Oct. 9, 1906, the son of the late Fred and Rilla Dell Strain Kendrick. He was the last sibling of 11 brothers and sisters. He has been a resident of Chattanooga for the past 77 years.
He was self-employed as a painting and carpentry contractor and also an auto mechanic. He was a member of East Lake Christian Church.
Mr. Kendrick is survived by his wife of 73 years, Joyce S. Kendrick; one son and spouse, Wendell and Amelia Kendrick of Cookeville, Tenn.; three daughters and spouses, Jean Baker of Decatur, Ala., Wanda and Jimmy Anderson of Summerville, S.C., and Pat and Kurt Carpenter of Cleveland, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Hamilton Memorial Gardens witht he Rev. Raymond Kendrick officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 608 p.m. and on Tuesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, Monday, Nov. 24, and from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday from the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Mr. Kendrick died on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at a Chattanooga hospital.
