Mark M. Penn Dies;
Services Wednesday
Mark M. Penn, 74, died Monday afternoon in a Rome hospital following an attack suffered earlier at his home, 700 E. Second Ave. He had been in declining health for several months.

Mr. Penn was born in Floyd County on September 3, 1888, son of the late Benjamin F. and Martha Emmarilla Sharp Penn. He was married to the former Mrs. Bell Clark Lewis Penn, who preceded him in death on January 22, 1949. Mr. Penn had made his home in Birmingham, Ala., and later in Washington, D. C., where he was associated with the Life Insurance Company of Virginia. He returned to Floyd County for residence 21 years ago, and was a life-long member of the Rush Chapel Methodist Church.

Surviving is a brother, Virgil Penn, of Greenville. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home with the Rev. J. W. Eberhardt and the Rev. Julian Brackman officiating. Interment will be in East View Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Robert Sutton, Frank Gaines, Leo Russell, Clifford Russell, G. L. Sutton, Sr., and Farris Salmon.

The family will be at the home of a niece, Mrs. C. F. Bearden, 300 Northwood Dr.

The Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.
