Stewart Penn died early Thursday morning in a local hospital following an attack suffered Wednesday at noon. Mr. Penn had returned to Rome for residence last November.

Born at Shannon on August 23, 1886, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Emmarilles Sharpe Penn. A number of years ago, Mr. Penn operated a blacksmith shop and engaged in farming. For several years, he had made his home in Michigan where he was engaged in dairying and cattle farming. Mr. Penn was a member of the Rush Chapel Methodist Church.

Survivors are two brothers, Mark M. Penn, of Rome, and Virgil Penn, of LaGrange. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were to be held today at 2:30 p.m. from the chapel of Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home. The Rev. H. L. Blalock officiated, with interment to be held later in the Salmon Cemetery. The following served as pallbearers: Leo Russell, Mance Murchison, Robert Sutton, Pete Sutton, Farris Salmon and Thomas Davis.
