John Herndon Beauchamp, a past president of food distributor Ben E. Keith Co., died Monday at Harris Methodist-Fort Worth hospital. He was 81.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth. Burial will be at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.

Mr. Beauchamp was president of Ben E. Keith, which distributes food to many area restaurants, during the 1970s. Until his death, he served on the company's board of directors and was chairman of the Ben E. Keith Foundation, which provides charitable organizations with financial support.

The company's food division honors its top salesman each year with an award named in Mr. Beauchamp's honor.

The native of Greenville, Texas, graduated from Wesley Junior College and Texas Tech University.

He was past president of the national United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth and the Kiwanis Club of Fort Worth.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes Jones Beauchamp of Fort Worth; two daughters, Jeanne B. Rumley of Dallas and Nancy Ellen Beauchamp of Fort Worth; two sisters, Augusta Beauchamp of Greenville and Elena Clark of Fort Worth; a brother, J.V. Beauchamp of Lubbock; and three grandchildren.
