Funeral for Claude "C. W." Scruggs, 64, of Jacksonville, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Thompson Funeral Home chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Benny Walker officiating.

Burial will be in Tecula Cemetery.

He died Tuesday in Jacksonville.

Mr. Scruggs was born in Tecula and lived in Jacksonville most of his life. He was a Baptist and a retired backhoe contractor.

Survivors include wife, Dorothy Frances Scruggs of Jacksonville, son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Stephanie Scruggs of Jacksonville; brother, Billy John Scruggs of Tyler; sisters, Maxine Freeman and Mary Nell Prieto of Tyler; grandchildren Christi Scruggs and Jeremy Scruggs and their mother Dorothy Ann Scruggs of Athens; great-grandson Dylan Scruggs of Athens; And several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Billy Stemm, Bobby Essex, Harold Stemm, Charles Samples, Michael Stemm and Kenny Stemm.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today.
