Mrs. Dorothy Frances Scruggs was born on January 26, 1932 to the late Benjamin Franklin and Nora Belle Smith Odom.
Mrs. Scruggs lived in Jacksonville most of her life, she enjoyed her family, taking pictures and watching her grandchildren grow up.
Mrs. Scruggs was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Claude; sisters, Mrs. Marie Carlile, Mrs. Frankie Berry, Mrs. Mary Weatherman, and Mrs. Betty Wood; a brother Harold Douglas Odom; and a niece, Jennifer Odom.
Survivors include son Jerry Scruggs and wife Stephanie of Dallas; granddaughter Christi Scruggs of Athens; grandson Jeremy Scruggs and wife Lacey of Athens; mother of her grandchildren Dorothy Ann Scruggs, of Athens; great-grandsons, Dylan Scruggs and Zachary Scruggs of Athens; brothers, Benjamin "Bengie" Odom Jr. of Jacksonville, and Nolan Ray Odom & wife Betty of Tyler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
