Obituary
Abraham Osborn
Abraham Osborn was born in the state of Indiana in 1840 and died at the home of his son, Lafe Osborn, near Shelburn, Linn County, Oregon February 7, 1926, aged 85 years. In 1852, when he was 12 years old, he crossed the plains with his parents, who located in Fox Valley, near Lyons, where his father settled on a donation land claim. Some years later the family moved to Scio, and his father engaged in blacksmithing, which occupation the son followed. After the death of his father, the son continued the business and also done carpenter work. Upon retiring from business, he erected a store building on the northeast corner of the lot now occupied by the R.M. Cain Hardware store, and engaged in general merchandising. Mr. Osborn was progressive, and done his share to build up the community in which he lived. Because of impending deafness he sold his holdings in Scio and retired to the farm of his son, Lafe, where he devoted the remainder of his life to small fruit raising and blacksmithing. His sickness was of short duration, pneumonia being the cause of his death. He was married to Martha J, Brown in January 1865, and she passed away in 1923. To this union four children were born, three boys and one girl the daughter, Mrs. Lou Richardson, died at Jefferson in 1910. The sons are all surviving, Lafe, C. D. and D.A. Osborn, all reside in this community. The funeral was held at the home of his son, Lafe yesterday morning at 11 o'clock, and interment followed at Miller cemetery. Rev. Davis of Lebanon delivered the funeral sermon.

His daughter, Mary Louise Osborn married George W. Richardson on February 5, 1893 in Linn Co, OR
