MRS. COPELAND DIES AT HOME

Mrs. Luella Alice Copeland, 89, widely known in civic and community activities in Charleston for many years, died Wednesday morning at her home, 808 Park Ave., after a long illness. She was the widow of Dr. C. E. Copeland, prominent local physician, who died in 1949.
Mrs. Copeland was former state chairman of the Washington Bicentennial Tree Planting Commission. She was an honorary and past president of the Kanawha Medical Society Auxillary and was active and a past president of Fort Lee Chapter, Daughters of American Revolution.
She was born at Wolf Creek district, Monroe County, daughter of Commodore Perry and Sarah Ellen Conner. She attended Baptist Academy now Alderson-Broaddus College. Mrs. Copeland was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Agsten and a brother, P. E. Conner of Charleston.
Service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church. Dr. George H. Vick will conduct the service and burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. The body is at the Bartlett Funeral Home.
