In 1836, Harvey was united in marriage to Eliza Ann Wilkins. Eliza was born February 27, 1819, in Sussex, England, daughter of Charles W. and Susan Wilkins. She died June 22, 1893, in Marcellon Township, Columbia County, Wisconsin, aged 74 years, 3 months and 25 days and was buried beside the remains of her husband in the Comstock Cemetery. Her gravestone is inscribed "Eliza A. Wife of H. Dean Died June 22, 1893 Aged 74 Y's 3 M's, 25 D.s." Her father Charles W. Wilkins is also buried in the same cemetery plot. Their children were:

Eliza had one known brother, Fredrick Wilkins, born in 1824 in England, who was listed just prior to them in the 1870 U.S. Census for Marcellon, Columbia County, Wisconsin. Eliza came with her parents from England and they settled in Monroe County, New York, where she met her future husband. Frederick Wilkins also moved to Marcellon township.
