Bette Jean Tillard, 75, died May 17 at her home near Bill after a long illness.

She was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Audubon, Iowa, to Earl and Helen Turner. The family moved to Wyoming in 1929.

She lived and worked in Washington, D.C., for a year before returning to Douglas. After her marriage to Rhea A. "Bud" Tillard on June 25, 1947, in Douglas, she lived the rest of her life on the Tillard Ranch near Bill.

She was a member of Douglas sorority, served on the Converse County Library Board and was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Mrs. Tillard is survived by her husband, Bud; sons, Marty Tillard of Glenrock, Tim Tillard of Douglas; sister, Virginia Nida of Douglas; brothers, Bud Turner and Gordon Turner, both of Douglas; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Andy; brother, Floyd; and sister, Lorraine Drennen.
