SHELBY — Mrs. Ruth Cornwell Allen, 79, of 870 E. Zion Church Road, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Hospice of Cleveland County.
Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late Thomas M. and Lula Spangler Cornwell. She was a homemaker and a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Rita Shipton and staff of Hospice of Cleveland County for their love and care of our mother.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by a son, George Edward Allen; a brother, Thomas M. Cornwell Jr.; and sisters, Inez Cornwell Royster and Jane Cornwell Bodie.
She is survived by her husband, John L. Allen; daughters, Ann Dudley and husband, Tom, of Silver Spring, Md. and Rhonda McIntyre and husband, Mike, of Jonesboro, Ga.; sisters, Mary Belle Cornwell Jenson of Danville, Calif., and Faye Cornwell Teague of Landis; brothers, Max Cornwell and wife, Madge, Gene Cornwell and wife, Pat and Larry Cornwell, all of Shelby; and grandchildren, Jennifer Allen Sigmon and husband, Barry, of Lincolnton, Lori Hardin and husband, Lee, of Shelby, Jonathan, Daniel and Josh McIntyre of Jonesboro, Ga., Janet Dudley of Silver Spring, Md. and Laura Dudley of Cornelius.
