Louise was born to Eula and Jesse Douglas. Her siblings were Frances and James Robert. At the age of 15, she became the first female to swim the width of the Ohio River at Golconda. Louise graduated from Golconda H.S.; attended Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. She married Cecil Bonnell on July 20, 1947. They had two children, Michael and Cindy; granddaughter, Melinda Bonnell Bernal; three great grandchildren, Lucas, Isaiah, and Alexis. She retired from the State of Illinois where she had been a social worker.
