Opal 'Waldene' Henson, age 89, joined God and her heavenly family on Friday, June 10, 2011. She was born September 20, 1921, in Silverton, TX.
Waldene was a Charter Member of the Central Baptist Church. She was active in teaching Sunday school, VBS, and W.M.U. She was the past President of the Pilot Club of Clovis, the founder of Queens 'n Teens, where she worked until her retirement. It was a most successful apparel store which was often featured in Seventeen Magazine.
She was a most considerate, lovely, and kind matriarch to her family, and a perfect example of a Christian. She will be greatly missed by all.
Waldene is survived by her son, Jerry Henson and wife, Liz, of Le Veta, CO; daughter, Barbara O'Haver and her husband, Terry, of Arlington, TX; brother, Rex Vaughan of Ruidoso, NM; son-in-law, Charles Stephens of Waco, TX; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grand children; and 2 great-great grandchildren which she was fortunate to know.
Waldene was preceded in death by her husband, J.A. Henson; daughter, Sue Carol Stephens of Waco, TX; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.V. Vaughan; two sisters, Mae Clements and Mildred Stephens; great-great grandson, Kaden Walter; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Steed Todd Chapel with Rev. Dick Ross officiating. Interment will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
