Annie Laura DeVaughn Whitehead Gilliland, wife of N.F. Gilliland. She taught piano for many years in Sylacauga, where she died, and was the daughter of William McDuffie DeVaughn and Clara Hughes DeVaughn who operated the DeVaughn School of Music. Her parents were still well remembered by old-timers in the 1960s and her sister Lena Mae DeVaughn was an especially well known singer and pianist in East-Central Alabama.
