When the war was over, England returned high ranking officers but left low ranking personnel here to fend for themselves. William was married twice. No information about the first wife. Second wife was Elizabeth Walsh."
William and Elizabeth lived in Canada at some point and their first two children were born in Canada. At the time of their third child's birth in 1851 they were living in Michigan. By 1860, they were living north east of Clarksville, Iowa on neighboring farms with Elizabeth's siblings, Thomas and Susanna.
In her later years, William's granddaugther, Lizzie Hesalroad had a headstone put on William's grave in Old Town Cemtery.
