Marriage to Harriet Wilder Carter: Oct. 19, 1858
The Painesville Telegraph dated 1 Nov 1882 page 3
Sudden Death
Mr. A. P. Axtell, of Perry, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon. He was alone in his barn, in a wagon, unloading corn when Mrs. Axtell went out and found him lying in the wagon, evidently just fallen but apparently dead. Apoplexy the supposed cause of death. Mr. Avery was an old and respected resident of Lake County, and one of our best farmers. He was Sheriff for two terms, serving from 1857-1861. His age was 69. Funeral service at his residence Friday afternoon at one o'clock. The remains will be placed in the vault at Perry from whence they will be removed for burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville.
