Born in Portland, Or., Mr. Barman began his newspaper career as a copyboy on the New York Times. He later became advertising manager for the Houston Post, the Portland Telegram, Denver Post, and Honolulu Star-Bulletin. He leaves his widow Mary, 2484 Chestnut Ave., Long Beach.
