A glitch in the California Death Index causes both 1900 and 1901 births to be listed as "1901." In determining the birth year, it is helpful to look at a copy of the actual death certificate, the headstone inscription, cemetery records, Social Security Death Index, 1900 Census, a birth index or copy of the birth certificate.
