Velma M. Nyffeler, 89, of Decatur, a former employee of General Electric for nine years, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at home. The Van Wert, Ohio, native was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary Post 43. She had volunteered at Lakeside Manor, Woodcrest Meals on Wheels and other agencies. She also worked at Village Pharmacy for 14 years and retired in 1982. Surviving are nephews Harold F. Mailand and Allen Mailand. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L., and a sister. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur, with calling two hours before services. Burial will be at Decatur Cemetery. Memorials are to the church or the donor's choice.
