Roy Thurman Anderson, 84, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, in Stillwater, Okla. Services were held Monday, April 16, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home Chapel, Stillwater, Okla. with Pastor Wayne Hardy officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Stillwater, Okla. with Strode Funeral Home handling the arrangements.

Anderson was born on October 26, 1922 in Chandler, Okla. to Claude Otto Anderson and Mary Elizabeth (Denney) Anderson. He grew up in the surrounding area and lived here for most of his life. He attended schools in Chandler and Mehan. He moved to Kansas City, Kan., California, Sand Springs, and Tulsa before moving back to Stillwater. Anderson married Edith Irene Hadley on January 26, 1944 in Stillwater, Okla.

Roy was a great man, a loving father, and a wonderful husband. He served in World War II and was in the Navy as a Seaman 1st Class. He worked for Moore Business Forms in Stillwater for 18 years before retiring and then worked for Katz Department Store for 10 years before fully retiring at the age of 80. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

Anderson was the last of nine children and had numerous nieces and nephews. He was loved by everyone who came to know him. He loved baseball and his western channel. He always had a western on. He will be missed by all.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters, and one grandson, Shane Anderson in 2001.

He is survived by one son, Keith Anderson of Stillwater, Okla.; three daughters, Beverly Anderson of Stillwater, Okla., Kelli Anderson of Stillwater, Okla., Jean Ann Hill and her husband, Sig of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren; grandson Sean Anderson and his wife, Irene of Ponca City, Okla. and their daughters, Amber and Courtney; grandson Troy Hill and his wife, Stacey of Middleville, Mich. and their children, Justine, Joshua, and Jake; grandson Travis Hill of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Pallbearers were Rick Hadley, Dale Sharpton, Doug Sharpton, Jim Anderson, Herbie Kittle, and Zack Kittle. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Dale Reeves, Rick Sharpton, and Bob Hadley.
