Verland Eugene 'Gene' Judd, age 55 of Nevada, passed away , Friday, May 24, 2002 at the Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a lengthy illness. He was born on April 27, 1947 in Hiatville, KS to Kenneth L. and Elizabeth Heckman Judd. On October 14, 1969 he was married in Kimble, NE to Shirley Jean Batson and she survives of the home in Nevada. Gene grew up in Redfield, KS and graduated from high school in Ft. Scott in 1965. He worked for Extrusions, Inc. in Ft. Scott for 23 years. He came to Nevada in 1987. He was a foreman at Quality Products in Nevada for four years until illness forced his retirement in 1999. Gene was a member of the Countryside Assembly of God Church in Nevada and the Nevada Eagles Lodge. In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by one daughter, Michelle R. Adams of Ft. Scott, KS, one son, Michael Eugene Judd of Kansas City, MO, his mother, Elizabeth Judd, Redfield, KS, two brothers, Kenneth Judd of Viola, KS and Gary Judd of Redfield, KS, three sisters, Sharon Judd of Redfield, KS, Patricia Heckman of Bronson, KS, and Lavon Kent of Ft. Scott, KS, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth and one sister, Linda Hutchison. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at the Countryside Assembly of God Church in Nevada under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home. Rev. Ted Furry will officiate. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call from now until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Ferry Funeral Home.
