Nancy Lee Miller Jorgensen

September 22, 1956 - April 25, 1998


Our kind and beloved mother, daughter, sister, and aunt, Nancy Lee Miller Jorgensen, age 41, of Gunnison, died Saturday, April 25, 1998 in an automobile accident on I-70, north of Sigurd, Utah.

She was born September 22, 1956 at Kindley AFB in the Bermuda Islands, a daughter of Alfred Paul and Dorothy Cunningham Miller.

She and her brothers and sisters formed an entertaining group, called "The Young Folk" when they were growing up in Bermuda. They would perform for the people on the islands and they also cut a record. Nancy graduated from Roger B. Chaffey High School in Bermuda, Class of 1974. She attended BYU.

She married Jerry Rulon Jorgensen of Sigurd, Utah, on June 27, 1975 in the Manti L.D.S. Temple. They were blessed with two daughters and two sons. They were later divorced.
She married Kent Lemon on July 23, 1993 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. They were divorced.
Nancy moved to Gunnison in 1975 where she has since lived and made her home. She worked for Gunnison City as the City Clerk and Recorder. She became a vital and active member of the community, receiving many awards in her work with the city. She was honored on March 2, 1998 by the Utah Municipal Clerks Association for being accepted in the First Sustaining Membership of the UMC Academy for Advanced Education. Only 12 percent of the 10,000 members of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks have achieved this status.
Nancy was an active member of the L.D.S. Church and was currently serving as Activities Committee Chairperson in the Gunnison 2nd Ward. She enjoyed going to the Temple and doing genealogy. She was a very dedicated mother and was very involved with her children's activities. She will be greatly missed.

Survived by her children: Jared ,Lisa, Daniel and Lindsay Jorgensen, her mother, Dorothy, sisters and brothers: Phyllis Ann and Gary Krutsinger, of Austin, TX; William Eastman, of Woodruff, UT; Judy and Jerald Dastrup, of Sigurd; Patricia and George Gilliahn, of Plano, TX; Mary Elizabeth and John Carlson, of Springville; Mark E. and Cheryl Miller, of Gunnison; her mother and father-in-law: Bonnie and Joe Jorgensen, of Sigurd.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Miller Eastman, and her father, Alfred Paul Miller, who died in February of 1997 as the result of an automobile accident.

Funeral service will be held Friday, May 1, 1998 at 12 noon in the Gunnison L.D.S. Stake Center, 80 West Center Street in Gunnison, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11:30 prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery.
