Obituary: Just as a new day was begining the Death Angel came without a moments notice and so quickly took our dear mother. Lula, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jess Oakes was born March 8, 1894 and departed this life August 12, 1946, age 52 years, 4 months, and seven days.
On January 10,1909 she was married to Audie Jackson and to this union three children were born, Edgar, Edward, Mozelle.
Besides the three sons she leaves an adopted daughter, Thelma Keaton Pyles and six grandchildren who were so dear to her.
Mrs. Rubye Archey, who lived in the home preceded her.
She professed faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Baptist church at Crutchfield.
After the death of the father she was left to care for her children and to help others. She was always ready to do her tasks without complaining.
Mother's pray was that she might go quickly and not have to suffer although it is hard for us we know her heartaches are o'er and that she fell asleep so peacefully.
Don't fail to come back soon to
See me, and with a smile
She waved good-bye.
We cannot say, we will say
That mother is dead,
She is just away.
With a cherry smile, and a wave
Of the hand
Our Mother's just gone on to a
Better land.
Edgar, Edward, and Mozelle
