Retired RR Machinist Dies at 95

William B. Ritchey, 95, of 105 E. 26th Ave., a retired railroad machinist, died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 1980, in Hillview Convalescent Center, after an extended illness. Mr. Ritchey retired as a machinist from the Juniata machine shops of the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1950, after 44 years service. Mr. Ritchey was the oldest member of the Fairview United Methodist Church, where he had served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member and of the official board. He was born Dec. 5, 1884, in Blue Knob, the son of John N. and Sarah (Long) Ritchey, and was twice married, first to Bertha C. Burns, who died July 21, 1945, then to Mary D. Shaw who died in 1965. Surviving are seven children: W. Raymond and Clyde of Altoona, Mrs. Catherine Shew of Kenmore, N.Y.; Dean of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Dorothy Askey of Poland, Ohio; Donald of Maywood, N.J., and Mrs. Betty Jane Austin of Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a brother and two sisters, Elvin and Ida of Blue Knob and Mrs. Esther Bechtell of Portage. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Juniata, and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Fairview United Methodist Church.

RITCHEY -- Services for William B. Ritchey of 105 E. 26th Ave. will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Fairview United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Joseph Kugle. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, and from 11 a.m. until time of services Wednesday in the church. A son, Elwood C. Ritchey, died Dec. 7, 1978.
