Mrs. Shive was a graduate of the University of Illinois and a member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association. She also was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Phyllis was a member of the St. Clair County Historical Society, the St. Clair County Genealogical Society, and the Belleville Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Belleville, IL.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Henry A. and Mable D., nee Finch, Parsons.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy R. Shive of Dallas, TX;
three sons, Scott R. Shive of Tampa, FL,
Bradford W. (Leslie) Shive of DeKalb, IL,
and Ralph C. (Linda) Shive of Granger, IN;
six grandchildren, Valerie, Evan, Clayton,
Allison, Lauren and Lindsey Shive;
and one sister, Shirley M. (Charles) Shive of Belleville, IL.
