He fought at the Battles of Brandywine (Pa.), Monmouth (NJ), Six Nations (Pa.), Connecticut Farms (NJ), Green Springs (Va.) and Yorktown (Va.), though he did desert several times. Bonnell was first married to Hannah Ward, then Hannah Golden. His cause of death was drowning.
