Thomas J Huckins was named Thomas Jason Huckins after his father Jason Alanson Huckins and was born on September 27, 1891 in Forest City, Minnesota. His mother was Martha Jane Edgett Huckins. He would move to Oregon in the 1920's after his marriage to his wife Mary Ellen Shaw on November 27, 1912. They moved to the small town of Drain, OR and lived there most of his life. They had 5 children; Martha Ann in 1913, Thomas Clement in 1925, James Jason in 1927, a child who died at birth in 1929 and Kenneth Lavern Huckins in 1930. Thomas was a carpenter and he and his son Clemmy built many houses in the Drain area. He also enjoyed fishing, camping & horse shoeing. Thomas passed away at age 93 in Cottage Grove on July 12, 1985 of a heart attack. He was buried in Eugene.
