Born in Ulmet in the district of Kusel in the Pfalz (southwest Germany). Alternate names: Marie/Maria/Mary Louise/Elisabeth (Grub) Gilcher. Mother of three children. Died, age 73, of stomach cancer. Buried 10 September 1931.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gilcher, widow of Jacob Gilcher, died at her home, 1004 Butternut street, yesterday morning. She was 73 years old. Born in Germany, Mrs. Gilcher resided in Pennsylvania 10 years and in Syracuse 45 years. She was a member of Elizabeth lodge, D.O.H., and of the Mary and Martha society and the ladies' auxilliary of Mount Tabor Lutheran church. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Lynda A. Gilcher; two sons, Arthur L. and Charles F. Gilcher, and a granson, Edward Gilcher. Private prayer will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and the funeral service will be conducted in Mount Tabor church half an hour later. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.

[In the death notice section, it listed one of the organizations as "Mary Martha and Frauen Verein" of Mt. Tabor church. Arrangements by A.C. Schumacher.]
