Au am Rhein, katholische Gemeinde: Geburtenbuch 1809-1839 Bild 122

In the year of the Lord the 1 December at morning 3 o'clock is born Andreas, (son) of the citizen Anton and his wife Theresia Baumstark legitimate son
(there is a part that was later written in between. It says birth happened 30 Nov 1824 at 8 o'clock at evening.)

----------

Calculated from date of death and age at death of 71y 7m 27d, birthdate would be 30 Nov 1824.

Name appears in cemetery records as Gantz and on the grave marker as Ganz.

----------

At his home, 613 Jefferson Street, yesterday morning at 7 a.m. occurred the death of Andreas Ganz, one of Burlington’s well known old settlers, at the age of 71-7-29. Deceased was born in Au - Am - Rhein, Baden, where he learned the trade of a nail maker. He came to this country in 1853, and had as companions on his trip across the ocean Messrs. J J Wohlivend and Henry Ewinger, of this city. Mr Ganz came almost direct to Burlington and has made this city his home ever since. He was one of those quiet, wholesome, solid men who wouldn’t knowingly hurt the feelings of another and it is doubtful if he had an enemy. He leaves a wife and eight children. He was a member of the UAOD and the Des Moines County Sterbekasse Verein. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon from the family residence, at two o’clock.
