Merlene survived Hodgkin's cancer in 1979 and went on to live a full, happy life.
On February 22, 1980 she married Scott L. Stephens in Willard, UT.
She worked for Maddox for several years and the school lunch program in Sgt. Bluff, Iowa. At the time of her death she was employed by Smith's market in No. Ogden.
She loved the outdoors, camping, hunting, Utah Jazz, all sports, her dogs and friends. Her family was her life, they did everything together. She always wanted to cook for you whether you were hungry or not. She was an amazing hostess and loved taking pictures. She would drop anything she was doing to give a helping hand.
Merlene was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle, in 1984, her father, Merle, in 1977 and her sister, Penny Ipsen in 1975.
She is survived by her husband, Scott L. Stephens and three sons, Brandon, Justin, and Cade, all of North Ogden, UT; step-son Chad (Sabrina) Stephens, Roy, UT; and two grandchildren, Tyson and Shaylie. She is also survived by brothers Frank A. (Judith) Ipsen, Willard, UT, and Barton Longmore, Puerta Vallarta, Mexico; and sisters Hazel Dalton, Fruitland, ID, and Daneec (Bobby) Ludwig, Riverdale, UT.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ben Lomond 1st Ward, 550 E. 3100 N., No. Ogden, UT.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City and on Thursday from 9:30 to10:30 a.m. at the Church.
Interment will be in the Willard Cemetery.
