I am a descendant of John Coffey, Sr. and his wife Experience (probable surname Nye) through their daughter Grace Coffey and her first husband Levi Alger and then through their son Charles Coffey Alger and his first wife Sarah Palmer who married in December of 1831 and divorced in the first half of 1868. I got John Coffey, Sr. recognized as a Patriot ancestor by the DAR for when he and Experience lived at Lee, Massachusetts before their move to the Monroe area of Orange County, New York which was before the First Census of the U. S. in 1790.
