Funera1 services will be at l0 a.m., Monday at the Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem. Burial will be in the Moravian Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m.
Schernekau was born Dec. 1, 1906, in West Salem, the daughter of Brittain and Ida (Fredericks) Walser. She married John G. Schernekau on Aug. 5, 1928, in West Salem. He died on Nov. 21, 1980.
She was a teacher in West Salem and operated the West Salem Insurance Agency. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a village treasurer in West Salem.
She is survived by a son, Jack Schernekau of Evansville; and two grand-daughters, Gretchen Stokey of Dover, Ohio and Lory Ann Reitano of Indianapolis.
Schernekau was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister and a daughter-in-law.
