The death of Mrs. Emma Johnson-Martin occurred early Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Mundt, near Paton. Her death came as no surprise to her family and friends as she has been poorly for weeks, and death was expected for over a week. Mrs. Johnson was well-known to the older residents of Junction and Paton Townships and has always been a woman loved by those who knew her. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved in their hour of sorrow. Several from Dana attended her funeral services Sunday at the Mundt home at Paton.

Her Iowa Death Certificate is for Emma Jane Martin. It states she was divorced. She was born 12-25-1855 in Jefferson, Iowa to Nathan McCuen and Harriet W. Monroe, both who were born in Indiana. Emma worked as a nurse. Informant was Laura Johnson of Palisade, Colo. Emma died 10-10-1930 at 9:30 am of diabetes. She was 74y 9m 15d and had been ill about a year.

She married William C. Johnson on July 2, 1876, in Greene County, Iowa. They lived and raised their family there. They later divorced.

She married Robert George Martin, a retired farmer from Rippey, on January 3, 1921, in Greene County, Iowa.
