MANTUA – Dorothy Lyle Gardner Jeppsen, 95, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010 peacefully at her home of natural causes, incident to old age.
Dorothy was born in Bear River City, Utah on November 30, 1914, a daughter of Robert Nathaniel and Florence Eleen Johnsen Gardner.
Dorothy attended Box Elder High and Weber State College. She taught at Park Valley for one year and in Mantua for two years before marring Herman Brigham Jeppsen in the Logan Temple on July 22, 1932.
Dorothy was active in Ward and Stake organizations all her life; Ward Chorister, Ward and Stake Young Women President, Ward Relief Society President, Sunday School and Young Women teacher, and Ogden Temple Ordnance Worker for many years. She was a member of the Manuta Planning and Zoning Committee and Pioneer Nursing Home Board Member. She participated with various singing groups. Enjoyed reading, giving book reviews and sewing.
Surviving are her children: Sydnee J. Keller, Bryce (Betty) Jeppsen, Gardner (Jana) Jeppsen, all of Mantua, UT; 25 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, also one sister Bonnie Rae (Gordon) Bigler, Mantua, UT.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: Robert J. Gardner, Ted Gardner, Coy Gardner, two granddaughters and son-in-law Charles Keller.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mantua 1st Ward Chapel, 237 S. Willard Peak Rd., Mantua.
Friends may call on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. at the Church.
Interment will be in the Mantua Cemetery.
