Jane E. Benedetto formerly of Elgin Funeral services for Jane E. Benedetto, 86, of Herbert, will be held on Monday, April 4, at 10 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St. (Route 31), Elgin. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Born April 29, 1924, in O'Fallon, Ill., the daughter of George and Emma Monroe Alexander, she passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. She had been a resident of Lombard for many years, before moving to Elgin in 1981. She had been employed as a registered nurse for most of her life, caring for many. She was a veteran serving in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego. She was a member of Davis United Methodist Church in Herbert and a former member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Elgin. She loved gardening, nature and writing poems. She was very active in her family's lives. Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Gregory) LeSage of Elgin and Emma Manos of Herbert; one son, Victor Benedetto of Marengo; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis Benedetto on June 25, 1983; and two brothers and four sisters.
