Former Bristow Man Head of Hospital

Dr. Edward T. Gough of Mount Vernon was recently elected superintendent of Saint Luke's Methodist hospital in Cedar Rapids, at a meeting of the board of directors, succeeding Dr. Karl P. Meister. Dr. Gough is superintendent of the Davenport district of the Methodist church, in which position he is serving his sixth year. A native of Iowa and of the Bristow community, he was graduated from the Bristow high school and from Upper Iowa university in Fayette. He received his seminary training at Boston and was awarded the honorary doctor of divinity degree from Upper Iowa University in 1922. Dr. Gough will take over his new duties November 1, and will move to Cedar Rapids. His son, Lieutenant Junior Grade Vincent Gough is aboard ship in the Pacific area. His daughters are in New York.

New Hartford -- Funeral services for Dr. Edward T. Gough, 74, pastor emeritus of the New Hartford Methodist church, who died at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids Wednesday afternoon will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Methodit Church in Marion, where he was serving as associate pastor since retiring from active ministry in 1958; Burial at Mt. Vernon; Dr. Gough served the New Hartford Church from 1954 to 1958.

DR. E.T. GOUGH, FORMER HEAD OF HOSPITAL, DIES

  Word has been recieved in Mitchell of the death March 22 of Dr. Edward T. Gough, 74, at his home in Marion, Ia.  Burial was in Marion.
  He is survived by his widow, the former Agnes Hyde of Mitchell; a son, Vincent, of Tipton, Ia.; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Eleanor) Miller, Bloomington, Ind., and Mrs. Hormoz (Marjorie) Mahmoud, Tucson, Ariz., and five grandchildren.  He had been ill for several months, with a severe case of arthritis.
  Born near Bristow, Ia., his parents were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gough.  He was graduated from the Boston School of Theology.
  A resident of Mitchell from 1948-54, Dr. Gough was the administrator of the Methodist Hospital and at the time of his death was the assistant pastor of the First Methodist Church at Marion.
