Esther F. Lique, 87, died Jan. 24, 2001, at McGirr's Nursing Home in Bellows Falls after a long illness.

She was born April 15, 1913, in Thetford, daughter of Arthur and Mary (Squires) French.

She attended schools in Thetford and graduated from Thetford Academy in 1934.

She married Richard F. Lique on Oct. 3, 1937, in Bellows Falls. They made their home in Bellows Falls and Westminster for several years, and moved to Springfield in 1950.

Mrs. Lique worked for the Hartwell Shoe Co. in Bellows Falls for several years. Later, she and her husband operated the roller skating program at the Springfield Community Center for many years. For the past 34 years they have lived in Perkinsville.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield, and was active in the Springfield Senior Center for many years.

Survivors include her husband of Perkinsville; four sons, Burnham F. Lique of Springfield, Clifford F. Lique of Bellows Falls, Clifton A. Lique of North Charlestown, N.H., and J. Merle Lique of Charlestown, N.H.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two brothers; four sisters; an infant son; and two grandsons.

The funeral Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield with the Rev. Douglas Hawkins, interim pastor, officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Davis Memorial Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Senior Center, 139 Main St., Springfield, or the Visiting Nurses Association of Southeastern Vermont, 366 River St., Springfield, 05156.
