Catherine Branham, age 87, of Chesterton, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 in Valparaiso.
She was born February 5, 1924 in Valparaiso to Henry E. and Hazel (Broad) Bockelmann, who preceded her in death.
Catherine was married on May 29, 1946 in Liberty Township, IN to James O. Branham.
She is survived by her sons: Robert (Peggy) Branham of Merrillville and William (Mary) Branham of Chesterton; daughter in law, Judy Branham of Chesterton; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, James O. Branham; and son, James H. Branham.
Catherine was a member of the Republican National Committee and the Farm Bureau Leader Group and was also a 4H Leader. She helped out on the family farm while growing up and through her entire life, and worked at the steel mills in Gary during World War II. After marriage, Catherine worked at home taking care of her family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN with Pastor John Allen officiating.
Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
