Leona Annlyn was born on April 26, 1923 to Anton and Lottie (Madsen) Hinderaker in Astoria, SD. She attended District #6 school near Astoria and graduated from Astoria High School in 1941. Following her education Leona helped on the family farm.
On September 30, 1950 Leona was united in marriage to Ohmar Solem at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Rural Astoria. They farmed near Astoria for many years. In 2001 they moved into Astoria.
Leona was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed organizing events such as all school reunions and because of her wonderful memory, was the family historian. Leona enjoyed gardening and loved being with her grandchildren. She was a very caring, warm and loving person and cherished visiting with her family and friends.
