Thelma Knippenberg
Thelma A. Knippenberg, 76, of Route 2, Elkins, died at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at the home of Carla George in Harpertown, with whom she resided.
Mrs. Knippenberg was born April 2, 1925, in Rainelle, a daughter of Bernice O. Butcher, who survives in Elkins, and the late Charles Blankenship.
On Dec. 20, 1948, in Hagerstown, Md., she married George A. Knippenberg, who preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1978.
Surviving are a daughter, Evelyn Warner, Dailey; a special niece, Carla George, with whom Mrs. Knippenberg resided; four brothers, Elmer "Junior" Butcher, Elkins, Robert Butcher, Belington, Richard Butcher, Colonial Heights, Va., and Freeman "Joe" Butcher, Elkins; a sister, Peg Kalar, Elkins; three grandchildren, Lori Hinchman, Mark Warner and Crystal Gibson; three great-grandchildren, Brooke and Clay Hinchman and Logan Warner; and a great-niece and nephew.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin "Sherwood" Butcher and Bruce Butcher.
Mrs. Knippenberg was employed by the A&P Store in Cumberland, Md., prior to her retirement.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Elkins.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends may call at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ken Price officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Cemetery.
