The Rev. John D. Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery with masonic rites conducted by Biltmore Masonic Lodge No. 446. The lodge will open at 10 a.m.
Midgett, a retired bridge construction foreman from Bowers Construction Company, was a veteran of the U. S. Coast Guard. He was a member of First Flight Lions Club, York Rite Mason, Manteo Masonic Lodge No. 521, Carolina White Shrine, and the Amaranths.
He was the husband of the late Vera Reed Midgett and son of the late Ezeloe; and Mrs. Betty Toler Midgett.
Surviving are a son, William Ambrose Midgett of Asheville; two daughters, Ella Lane of Fairview and Carolyn Scarberry of Asheville; six brothers, Buck Midgett of Gonzales, La., Ezekiel and Carl Midgett, both of Kitty Hawk, Jarvis Midgett of Charlotte, Alfred Midgett of Shawboro and Wilbert Midgett of Elizabeth City; four sisters, Dorothy Burge and Flora Smithson, both of Elizabeth City, Laura Outz of Kitty Hawk and Margaret Meekins of Colington; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Williams Funeral Service, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before services.
