After, he took the Gann surname used by his step-father, John McCarter-Gann, who raised him until his untimely death. The John (b. 1814) linked to this memorial through their mother was Henry's half-bother. They had the same mother (Elizabeth Gann) but not the same father.
Also, Henry Farrow Gann's birthdate was probably 1799 (1800 at the latest). His birth definitely preceded that of his half sister, Mary Gann, who was born ca 1800/01 to the second marriage of their mother, Elizabeth Gann, to John McCarter-Gann.
Henry married Amy Adams, his brother, Alexander married Amy's sister, Mary "Polly" Adams and his half brother, John, married Adams sister, Sarah Ann "Sallie".
