BAST, Doris Olive (nee Fritz) With great sadness, the family of Doris Bast, announce her passing on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born June 19, 1927, the daughter of the late William and Oliva (Schnarr) Fritz of Erbsville. Beloved wife of the late Arnold (Arnie) Bast, whom she married April 29, 1950 and predeceased her November 1, 1992. She is survived by daughters Sharon and Tom Jinkerson of Hamilton; Ann (previously Torrie) Silvers of Seattle, WA; Joan and Bob Cook of New Hamburg; and Linda Bast of Bancroft. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Andrew and Martha Cook, Jeremy and Sandra Cook, Kathleen Jinkerson, Emily Jinkerson, Matthew Torrie, Daniel and Lauren Jinkerson, Elizabeth Torrie, Patrick Jinkerson and also her five great-granddaughters. Remembered by her sister-in-law Evelyn Fritz of Simcoe; and brothers-in-law Bob Bast of Kitchener; and Bill Bast of Alberta; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Walter and Pam Fritz, Mary and Don Delion, Carl and Marcy Fritz, Cliff and Alice Bast, Floyd and Vi Bast, and Jean Bast. Doris and Arnie farmed outside of St. Agatha and in 1973 they sold the farm and retired to a corner of the farm on which they built their dream home. Doris and Arnie loved to entertain by the pool and also to travel with family and friends. After Arnie's death in 1992, Doris moved to New Hamburg, where she continued to sew and teach drapery. Doris was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 532 and Ladies Auxiliary where she served in many capacities. She loved playing cards. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Friday, June 3, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The celebration of Doris's life will take place on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hamburg with Pastor Andre Lavergne and Pastor Anne Anderson officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Interfaith Community Counselling Centre, New Hamburg or the charity of one's choice. A Legion Ladies Auxiliary service will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. On line condolences and donation information available at www.markjutzifuneralhomes.ca
