Helen was raised north of Benkelman, NE and attended school in the Hiawatha precinct in NW Dundy Co., finishing the 8th grade.
She was united in marriage to Wesley Bunning on 12-8-1941 and to this union three children were born: Helen Delores , Jonathan, and Dennis. She assisted raising her three nephews: Lee, Gary and Ernie and niece, Pam Slade. She thought of these children as her own.
As young housewife she raised large gardens and chickens which she dressed and sold to locally. Helen enjoyed sewing and playing pitch and rummy with friends and family. She was employed at the Sarah Ann Hester Home in Benkelman for many years.
She and Wesley worked for Vi and Ben Gottschalk for many years. Following her husbands death she continued to live on the farm up until her death.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, a son, her parents, three brothers a granddaugher and son-in-law.
